Alexandra Burke says she has no regrets about signing up for Strictly Come Dancing despite the “negativity”.
The Strictly finalist was targeted by Twitter trolls while on the BBC1 show.
Burke, 29, whose mother, singer Melissa Bell, died just weeks before her daughter appeared on the show, told The Mail on Sunday’s You magazine she did not respond to accusations of being “fake” and a “diva”.
And the newly-engaged star said: “Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and these days everyone has one, and they have Twitter as a platform for sharing it.
“I can only sigh and think, ‘They don’t understand what I was going through.’
“Mum would have told me not to retaliate because they don’t know my truth.”
She added: “The positives of doing Strictly completely outweighed the negatives.”
