If you’re watching Kodi on your TV thorugh a set-top box you probably won’t even realise the need for a spare remote contol.

However, chances are there’s going to come a time when you either can't find your official set-top box remote or it's in need of new batteries.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could just pick up your smartphone and control your media player?

Glasgow Times:

Well, you can.

There are two different versions of the Official Kodi Remote: Android and iOS.

Even though they both have the same functionality, there is one subtle difference - the name.

Whereas the Android version is called Kore, the iOS is just called “Official Kodi Remote for iOS.”

Kore is a full-featured, easy to use remote for Kodi/XBMC that lets you control your media center from your Android device. It's available for free on the Goggle Play Store, F-Droid and on the official Kodi website.

Glasgow Times:

Kore allows you to:

  • Control your media center with an easy to use remote

  • View and manage the current playlist
  • Change and sync subtitles and audiostreams
  • View your media library
  • Control Kodi's volume with the hardware keys

The Official Kodi Remote for iOS features library browsing, now playing informations and a direct remote control. It's available for free on the AppStore.

The Official Kodi Remote for iOS allows you to:

  • Control volume on Kodi
  • Manage multiple Kodi instances
  • Live view of currently playing playlist
  • Setting that prevents your phone locking the screen
  • Swipe left and right gesture recogniser for easy navigation

You can also use the iOS Official Remote for Kodi on your iPad.
