It was clear from the moment Kevin Bridges walked on stage to a hero's welcome at the Hydro that fans were in for something special.

The show was the second night of Bridges' mammoth 16 shows at the Hydro and part of his 100 date UK tour, A Whole Different Story.

Selling out 16 nights at the Hydro is quite a feat for any act and Bridges was keen to show his appreciation, telling fans "Thank you, it means a lot. I'm doing 16 nights, One Direction are only doing two".

Touching on marriage, drugs, sectarianism, austerity, sleepovers and tax havens, Bridges was in his element and no topic seemed to be off limits.

An aside about the reason Scots voted against independence went down a storm, while a discussion with fans, some of whom had travelled from Spain, Canada and Jersey to attend the show, yielded some unexpected gems.

Being touted as the next Billy Connolly may seem like a daunting prospect for some but Bridges takes it in his stride.

His ability to take Glasgow observations and humour and turn them into something universal was fascinating to watch.

Sketches about life in Clydebank and a tourist's view of Glasgow, "Castlemilk, that must be the historic bit", had the crowd in stitches, and a recollection of an encounter with a dog walker in a West End park was a comedy master class.

It's easy to understand why so many wanted to see Kevin give it laldy live.
