Strictly Come Dancing star and soap actress Georgia May Foote will make her professional stage debut as Holly Golightly in Breakfast At Tiffany’s.

The former Coronation Street actress will star as the charming yet evasive “good-time girl” played memorably by Audrey Hepburn in the 1961 film.

Georgia, 25, said: “I am so excited that for my first theatre role I will be playing such an iconic character. I cannot wait to join the cast of Breakfast At Tiffany’s as Holly Golightly.

“It’s a wonderful adaptation of an incredible story and I’m really thrilled to be part of it!”

Playing the part of Holly from September 19 to November 19, she will share the role with pop star Pixie Lott and The Inbetweeners actress Emily Atack.

Georgia was runner-up in last year’s Strictly Come Dancing. She was paired with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, who she is now dating.

He wrote on Twitter: “Proud of you Amore … Can’t wait to see you on stage !!! #pocketrocket”.

The play is based on Truman Capote’s 1958 novella. Set in New York during World War Two, it follows Fred, a young, poor writer from Louisiana, and the girl he falls for – the naive, eccentric Holly, who has many wealthier suitors.

Breakfast At Tiffany’s director Nikolai Foster said Georgia’s casting completes the musical’s “perfect trio of leading ladies taking on the role of Holly Golightly.”

He added: “It’s hugely inspiring for all of us to be working with actors who are perfectly suited to the role and will help encourage new generations of theatregoers to share Capote’s beautiful story.”
