LAURA Whitmore is set to tease the nation with her tango and show off her very best soft shoe shuffle when she appears on BBC’s Strictly tomorrow night.

However the television presenter will take to a very different stage when she appears in Glasgow in the new year.

And the steps she will be taking will be just as cautious, but in a very different way.

Dublin-born Laura will star in a crime thriller, the stage adaptation of multi-million selling author Peter James’ Not Dead Enough, set to run at the Theatre Royal in April as part of a UK tour.

The 31 year-old revealed she’s a huge fan of Peter James' books.

“I’m so honoured to be cast as his Cleo,” says the performer of her first theatrical outing, appearing as Detective Roy Grace's police mortician girlfriend.

“Peter has created a strong character in Cleo Morely and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the role.”

Laura is a Journalism graduate who went on to work with MTV interviewing Hollywood celebrities.

But she can also act, having attended the Leinster School of Music and Drama in Dublin.

“I have played some great roles including Lady Macbeth and Annie in All My Sons,” she reveals of the period before studying journalism.

“I have been waiting a long time to return to acting and for a great role like this to come along.”

Laura, who is said to have partied with Leonardo Di Caprio in London recently, adds; “I can’t wait to get on stage around the UK with Not Dead Enough.”

Peter James said; “The moment I met Laura Whitmore and she began reading a scene from the play I had that deep thrill of knowing we had found my absolutely perfect Cleo.

“The way she looks and the warmth and energy she radiates – she is just perfect in every way.”

Laura is also known for her work as a presenter of The Brits and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here Now.

She is one of the favourites to win Strictly.

Not Dead Enough receives its world stage premiere in January 2017, following on from huge sell-out successes The Perfect Murder and Dead Simple, both adapted from Peter James novels featuring Detective Roy Grace.
