ANOTHER ghost-hunting date has been added as an iconic Glasgow venue shuts up shops for two years.

The Citizens Theatre in the Gorbals will be closing for a major £19.4 million refurbishment, but this is the first time the public will be allowed to explore the building - and some of the guests left behind.

After two dates in May sold out due to phenomenal demand, Scottish Ghost Nights is now offering another date on June 10.

In what’s being described as a “unique opportunity,” adrenaline junkies will seek out the spirits of the theatre.

Scottish Ghost Nights said: “Theatres are famous for their ghostly activity and this famous Glasgow location is no different.

“Over time, many patrons and staff members have reported the ghosts of the Citizens Theatre.

“One long-term staff member, trapped in the upper circle during a blackout, was led to safety by the distinctive outline of a monk. Customers seated in the dress circle during shows in the 1970s often inquired about the costumed ‘actor’ who sat boldly on the balcony and stared back at them.

“Current staff members have caught glimpses of a ‘white lady’ dressed in Victorian costume and flitting from the dress circle bar towards the circle studio dressing rooms.

“Backstage, dressing room seven is thought to be haunted by some of its past inhabitants and the upper circle has occasional visits from a strawberry seller girl, one of the most sighted of the Citizens ghosts.”

The night will take place from 7pm to midnight. Tickets cost £39 and can be bought from ukghostnights.co.uk.
