A GLASGOW nightclub celebrating its 20th birthday is asking people to rack their brains to help create a piece of artwork.

The Garage, in Sauchiehall Street, is Scotland's largest nightclub.

Over the years it has hosted a number of top performers including Prince, One Direction, The Pretenders and Coldplay.

Now owner Donald MacLeod wants to mark the special anniversary by having the name of everyone who has ever performed in the venue written in silver in the club's long stairway.

But many years ago, files listing every group and solo artist to have taken the stage during the past 20 years went missing.

Mr MacLeod can recall many of the acts but is determined not to miss anyone out.

As a result, he is asking clubbers past and present to get in touch with him with their memories of the gigs they have attended in the city centre venue.

The nightclub boss said: "I want to create a Wall of Fame to reflect our 20-year history.

"However, massive help is required as our files disappeared many years ago so we have not got a complete list.

Controversial Marilyn Manson has performed in the Garage as has Ian Dury, who in the 1970s found fame with The Blockheads.

But Mr MacLeod wants to record not just the stars who performed but the support acts too.

He said: "I think it would look rather nice on our huge stairs to have all their names in silver writing on the black wall."
