AUSSIE star Jason Donovan is the jewel in the crown of Glasgow's stage adaptation of The King's Speech.

The actor and singer takes the role of determined speech therapist Lionel Logue alongside Raymond Coulthard as King George VI.

The play that inspired the Oscar-winning film, starring Geoffrey Rush and Colin Firth, will run is running until March 21.

The movie proved to be one of the most successful British films of all time, winning four Academy Awards.

The Queen Mother would not sanction the release of the play until after her death in 2002.
