A relative of chart-topping global star Adele is to be seen showing off her own abilities as a contestant on BBC1 talent show The Voice.

Georgia Harrup will be seen on this weekend's programme wowing the panel of coaches in the "spinning chair" audition stage of the contest.

The 27-year-old performed a version of the Ray Charles track Hallelujah I Love Her So in front of Will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Kylie Minogue and Ricky Wilson.

Harrup only found out she was related to Adele five years ago when the wannabe's father contacted another branch of his family. Her father Albie - a guitarist who was in rock band Scarecrow and has released Christian albums as a solo performer - is the brother of Adele's grandmother.

Speaking about her famous relative, she told The Sun: "I couldn't believe it as she was always a massive inspiration to me anyway."

Harrup said of her family: "We've got good musical genes."
