Coronation Street is going live - again - to mark ITV's six decades on air.
The long-running soap, which previously filmed live episodes to mark its 40th and 50th anniversaries in 2000 and 2010, will broadcast live for one night next September.
The 2010 episode, which featured a dramatic tram crash, won several awards for the Manchester-set show.
Producer Stuart Blackburn, who masterminded Emmerdale's live special to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2012, said it was "an honour to be at the helm" at Coronation Street for the special occasion.
He said: "We've a reputation to uphold after the success of the tram crash and I'm going to enjoy working with the storyliners and writers as we plot stories for our live episode in 2015. We'll be doing all we can to eclipse what's gone before."
Its BBC rival, EastEnders, has already announced plans for a live show next year when Lucy Beale's killer will be unmasked during a special week of episodes marking the soap's 30th anniversary.
It means bosses can keep the murderer's identity a secret from cast and crew until the last minute before they are revealed in February.
The anniversary of the BBC soap will include one 30-minute live episode and "live elements" in the other episodes.
