Sheila Ryan told Reveal magazine that the Channel 5 show had "gone too far".

Asked about the task where the former Blue singer was told to behave in an x-rated manner, she said: "I couldn't bear it. I turned it off, put my head under the covers and cried my eyes out."

Mrs Ryan, who owns her own hairdressing salon, said: "I went into work the next day and couldn't stop crying, it was awful."

She added: "Lee loves to cook, so I'd rather see him in the kitchen than the pole-dancing club."

Asked whether she felt embarrassed watching her son and his x-rated antics, she replied: "Not usually, but in this particular programme, absolutely yes."
