Michelle Gomez is returning to Doctor Who to play the time lord's arch-enemy again in the new series.
Her character Missy, a female incarnation of the doctor's long-term nemesis The Master, will join Peter Capaldi's Doctor in the opening episode.
She said: "Things have been a little beige since I left Missy behind, so I'm delighted to be putting my lippie back on. I'm positively dying to see the Doctor again."
Executive producer Steven Moffat said: "Everybody hide - Michelle Gomez as Missy was an instant hit last year, so she's straight back to plague the Doctor and Clara in the series opener. But what brings her back into their lives is the last thing they'd expect."
The new series also sees a return for Jemma Redgrave as Kate Stewart and appearances by actors including Kelly Hunter and Clare Higgins.
The long-running BBC One show will be back on air in the autumn.
