Sue Perkins has quit Twitter after receiving death threats over reports that she could be the new host of Top Gear.
The Great British Bake Off presenter received death threats on the social networking site after bookies tipped her to take over from Jeremy Clarkson on the hit BBC 2 motoring show.
Perkins said that the story was 'utterly fabricated' before announcing that she would be temporarily quitting Twitter today.

The BBC announced last month that it would not renew Clarkson's contract after he allegedly punched a Top Gear producer in an argument over food following a day's filming.
Other names tipped to take over from Clarkson on the show include Life on Mars actor Philip Glennister and model Jodie Kidd.
