COMEDIENNE Susan Calman is set to break new ground in fronting a new quiz show.

The world of quiz TV has long been male dominated, with only the likes of Anne Robinson, Davina McCall and Sandi Toksvig making it to prime time.

However, Susan reveals she's eminently qualified to present The Lie, in which contestants must spot the falsehood from a set of true statements.

"I've always been a huge fan of quiz shows," said the former corporate lawyer-turned stand-up.

"I watch 3-2-1 all the time on Challenge TV. I know you can't explain 3-2-1 but I still love it. In fact, Challenge gives me the chance to rewind on other fantastic game shows such as the Krypton Factor and the Generation Game.

"The only quiz show I didn't really take to in fact was Blankety Blank. I guess I was too young to really get the concept."

The concept of STV's new show won't be hard to grasp.

Starting with a prize of £100, two players work their way up a game board through categories ranging from pop stars to football and current affairs.

If they can continue to spot the deliberate lie, the contestants can go on to win £10,000.

Susan will also be working for the BBC on a Commonwealth Games programme.
