A card designed by David Tennant has raised £460 in an online auction for the MS Society. The artwork, given to the charity by the former Dr Who star, was just one of a series of unique cards created by celebrities to raise money for the MS Society.

The other famous names who supported the charity's 'Cards for a Cause' auction included Frank Lampard, Gok Wan, Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Katherine Jenkins, Lorraine Kelly, Sir Chris Hoy and singer Jessie Ware.

The 'Cards for a Cause' auction lasted for 10 days during December and raised over £2,000 which will go towards supporting over 100,000 people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) in the UK.

MS is a condition of the central nervous system which is most commonly diagnosed in people in their 20s and 30s and affects almost three times as many women as men. It can get steadily worse, or remain unpredictable throughout your life - one day you can be fine, the next you might lose your sight or be unable to move.

Michelle Mitchell, Chief Executive of the MS Society, said: "We're incredibly grateful to all the celebrities who designed a card for our auction.

"Every penny raised from the auction will help us to fund vital research into the condition, as well as help us to continue to provide information and support services to all the people affected by it."

The MS Society is the leading charity fighting to improve treatment and care to help people with MS take control of their lives.
