The live version of Strictly Come Dancing will be cha cha cha-ing its way into the SSE Hydro this weekend.

Strictly fans will be able to indulge in four shows at the venue from Friday, January 30 to Sunday, February 1 at 7.30pm including a matinee show on Saturday at 2.30pm.

The 2015 UK tour will have a number of celebrities including Blue singer Simon Webbe, Radio 1's Scott Mills, ex-rugby star Thom Evans and TV presenters Alison Hammond, Mark Wright and Caroline Flack. Rachel Stevens, of S Club 7 fame, will also be taking part in the tour, which is hosted by Zoe Ball, after Frankie Bridge, from girl band The Saturdays pulled out on the advice of her doctor after announcing her pregnancy.

To put you in the mood for the glamour, glitz and ballroom moves, here are 20 amazing Strictly Come Dancing facts to impress your mates with.

1. The Strictly Come Dancing format has been exported to over 40 other countries. The show has adopted different names. In the United States, it is called Dancing with the Stars whereas the Swedish version of the show is called Let's Dance.

2. Before Strictly Come Dancing, there was Come Dancing. Come Dancing was a British ballroom dancing competition which ran on and off the BBC from 1949 to 1998. It was one of television's longest shows. It was originally broadcast from regional ballroom studios and professional dancers Syd Perkin and Edna Duffield offered teaching. The format changed in 1953 to become a competition.

3. Strictly Come Dancing came about after producer Richard Hopkins - who produced the first series of Big Brother in the UK - unsuccessfully pitched the idea of a modern Come Dancing to the BBC under the title of Pro Celebrity Dancing in 2003. Entertainment executive Fenia Vardanis also pitched the idea to her BBC head Jane Lush. Hopkins and Vardanis were then put together to develop the show.

4. The title Strictly Come Dancing came from the 1992 Australian film Strictly Ballroom and the original BBC series Come Dancing.

5. Strictly Come Dancing has been on the BBC since 2004. There has been 12 seasons of the show, 10 stand-alone Christmas specials and nine charity specials.

6. Hollywood hunk Chris Hemsworth - or Thor as he is known to a generation of superhero fans - appeared on season five of Dancing with the Stars Australia.

At the time, the Aussie star was appearing as Kim Hyde in Home and Away and he had not quite hit the dizzy heights of Hollywood fame.

Chris was the sixth celebrity to be eliminated that season. He might have been People magazine's sexiest man alive 2014 but the title was certainly not given for his dancing.

 

7. Series 12 winner Caroline Flack and her partner Pasha Kovlav are Strictly Come Dancing record breakers. Flack holds the record for the most maximum scores of 40 by any contestant. She became the first celebrity to score the maximum 40 from the judges in all three of her dances in the final, and she also set the record for the longest consecutive run of 40 marks, with four, since her second dance in the semi-final had also scored 40. Now that is impressive.

8. Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly is a bit of a New Romantic. For the TV presenter has appeared in two Duran Duran videos. The former model starred in the band's 1990s videos Serious and Violence of Summer (Love's Taking Over). Watch her in action here -9. Judge Craig Revel Horwood actually appeared on Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends. Theroux was investigating the trials and tribulations of struggling New York City actors. In the documentary, he is introduced as Craig Horwood at an audition for a musical on a Norwegian cruise ship, for which he is choreographer.

10. Judge Bruno Tonioli worked in the music business as a choreographer before taking the Strictly Come Dancing hot seat. He worked with artists including Tina Turner, Sting, the Rolling Stones, Sinitta, Boy George, Duran Duran and of course Elton John. 11. Tour celebrity Rachel Stevens is a bit of a TV talent show veteran. Aside from taking the runner-up spot with partner Vincent Simone in season sixth of Strictly Come Dancing, the S Club 7 star has appeared in a variety of other TV talent shows. In 2010, she co-hosted Britain's Got More Talent. In 2013, she was a mentor assistant on The X Factor New Zealand. And she is also due to take on a coaching role in The Voice of Ireland.

12. Tour celebrity Simon Webbe once represented the UK in the Eurovision song contest. Blue came 11th with 100 points singing the track I Can in 2011.

13. Tour celebrity Alison Hammond was the second housemate to be evicted from the Big Brother house when she appeared on the third series of the show back in 2002. Since then she has become a presenter on ITV's This Morning and of course appeared on Strictly Come Dancing.

14. Brendan Cole and Anton Du Beke are the only two professional dancers to have taken part in all twelve series of the show. Anton has never won the competition but Brendan won the first series with Natasha Kaplinsky.

15. Only four professionals including Brendan have managed to win in their first series of being on Strictly Come Dancing. The others included Darren Bennett who won with Jill Halfpenny; Artem Chigvintsev who claimed the top prize with actress Kara Tointon and Aljaz Skorjanec helped model Abbey Clancy become a Strictly winner. No professional however has won the competition more than once.

16. On average, dances last 90 seconds. The Waltz, Cha Cha Cha, Quickstep, Rumba, Tango, Jive, Foxtrot, Paso Doble and Samba have featured in the show since series 1. The American Smooth and Viennese Waltz were added series 3. The Salsa and Argentine Tango were added in Series 4. The Charleston was introduced late into series 7.

17. Sunday's result show is not live. It is actually recorded on a Saturday night straight after the live show. Viewers must cast their votes by 9.30pm on a Saturday night.

18. Alesha Dixon is the only contestant to ever be a full-time judge on the show. She won the show in 2007 with Matthew Cutler. She then joined the show as a judge in 2009 replacing Arlene Philips. But she quit in 2012 to join Britain's Got Talent as a judge.

19. The show has welcomed famous guest judges. Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey who won season 11 of Dancing with the Stars in the states appeared as a guest judge in series nine. 70s crooner Donny Osmond who won season nine of Dancing with the Stars appeared as a guest judge in series 12.

20. A special episode of The Weakest Link in 2008 featured participants of Strictly Come Dancing. Series 6 celebrity Mark Forster won the game show. He was up against Craig Revel Horwood, Arlene Philips, Kristina Rihanoff, Camilla Dallerup, Mark Ramprakash, Brendan Cole, Heather Small and Anton Du Beke.
