Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson has become the latest celebrity to join the Wake Up Call selfie campaign - posting a picture of himself in bed with Heston Blumenthal.

#WakeUpCall is the new social media fundraising craze sweeping the internet, following on from the success of the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Unicef ambassador Jemima Khan kicked off the initiative, encouraging users to share a picture of themselves as soon as they have woken up and donate £5 to raise money for Unicef's Syria Emergency Fund.

She nominated Clarkson, Hugh Grant and Lily Allen to follow suit.

Clarkson tweeted a picture of himself and chef Blumenthal in bed together, apparently naked, writing: "#WakeUpCall Syria Unless you donate at http://wakeupcall.co.uk I will post more pictures of Blumenthal and me."

Other stars to have shared photographs of themselves bleary eyed and in bed include supermodel Naomi Campbell, broadcaster Stephen Fry, cook Nigella Lawson, actor Tom Hiddleston and Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman.

Grant ducked out of the challenge by posting a picture of himself from the film Cloud Atlas, which sees him aged with prosthetic make-up, lying in bed in pyjamas.

He has nominated actor John Cleese, cricketer Kevin Pietersen and comedian John Bishop.
