TV show This Morning got a mixed response when it conducted breast examinations live on the programme.

Two models - one female and one male - disrobed in the studio to get checked under the full gaze of the cameras on the daytime show.

Dr Chris Steele carried out the examinations after Phillip Schofield, who was co-hosting the ITV programme with Amanda Holden, warned viewers with young children about the TV segment.

Liz Beswick wrote on Twitter: "Wow daytime TV has changed".

@djjamesthecat wrote: "This Morning will do literally anything to get viewers!"

Verity Anna Olivia wrote: "Couldn't they have got a female doctor to do this?"

But Emily Clarke said: "People really need to grow up! Have you never seen a pair of breasts before?! Demonstrating to save lives!!"

Stefanie Lopez added: "It's a shame how immaturely people react to a segment aimed at potentially saving lives. Good on This Morning!"

Last month, the programme was cleared for running a feature on 'bondage for beginners' despite more than 100 complaints about the coverage which included reviews of a range of sex toys.

Communications watchdog Ofcom said that it would not take action after it concluded the pre-watershed report, which attracted 120 complaints, did not "break broadcasting rules".

The show has also caused controversy in the past by showing a man having his testicles examined on live TV, in a segment aimed at raising awareness of testicular cancer.

In 2013, Richard Blackwood underwent a rectal examination for prostate cancer live on the programme.

Later, the panellists on fellow ITV show Loose Women surprised viewers when they sampled ice cream, made from breast milk.

The vanilla ice cream was made with breastfeeding campaigner Victoria Hiley's milk.

Andrea McLean turned it down, saying that she was "lactose intolerant", while Linda Robson, Jane Moore and Nadia Sawalha all sampled it.
