Glasgow gardener Derek Mackay, 31, is launching a sequel to his A Weegie Abroad video.

The man paid for himself and his filmmaker friend Tommy Slack to go on an adventure trip to Las Vegas, San Diego and LA and film their antics while they were there.

The trailer for the second installment has been up for four days and has racked up almost 1300 views.

Derek, whose on-screen alter ego is Del Boy Scumbag and also raps under the name Aye Mackay, started filming himself while on holiday and sending the clips to his friends five years ago.

He released his first full length video at the end of 2013, which sees him travelling through Amsterdam, Germany and Austria.

As he talks to different people and visits different places, Derek is faced with plenty of language barriers, culture shocks and makes the occasional faux pas.

However, Derek says that both himself and Tommy have upped their game since the first A Weegie Abroad.

He said: "It's bigger and better than the first, to be honest. When we were in the States, we were a lot more active and doing more activities - I ticked a lot off my bucket list.

"I went jet skiing, got the zip slide off the Stratosphere building in Vegas, and I went to a shooting range too."

So how did Americans take to Derek's eccentric sense of humour?

He said: "A lot of Americans asked me why I was wearing a scumbag hat, and I explained to them that it was just a joke,a bit of Scottish banter. A lot of them laughed and said they wanted one too."

But it wasn't all plain-sailing for the Youtube comedian as the pair had a Sons of Anarchy style run-in with some burly bikers outside a Las Vegas bar.

Derek said: "We were shooting a scene near a motorbike outside a biker club. A few of them came out and said: 'don't shoot the bikes or you're dead' and they tried to grab the camera off of us.

"I'm from Wine Alley in Govan so I know how to deal with these situations; I just explained to them that it's sound, I'm just shooting a documentary and I wanted the club in the background."

He added, laughing: "One of them just hit out with: 'Where are you from, Ireland?' and we ended up talking away."

There are also some stirring moments in the upcoming video; when Derek was at a Fourth of July celebration, he made a speech about Scottish Independence as the crowd cheered him on and fireworks lit up the sky.

Derek said: "I might act like a bit of an idiot with my Del Boy Scumbag side at times but I can have more meaningful moments."

He added: "I volunteer with Oxfam, I've done a 10K fundraiser and I also give blood; I want to show my young nieces and nephews that I'm more than what you see on camera."
