Ahh, The Great British Bake Off: that bastion of utter British-ness and all things cakey and lovely and twee.

But aside from the warm, fuzzy feelings gained from the popular baking show, there are also the naughty comments from the presenters, the judges and the contestants.

One such moment happened during Wednesday night’s broadcast as dessert week kicked off in tasty style, with veteran baker Mary Berry sharing a saucy moment with Bake Off hopeful and everybody’s favourite Selasi Gbormittah.

As Mary and Paul Hollywood wandered through the tent to see how the contestants were getting on with their roulades, Mary stopped to appraise Selasi’s effort.

He revealed he was making a genoise sponge so it would not split when he rolled it, prompting Mary to say: “Having the butter addition means you’ve got a pliable mixture, I’m hoping there will be no crack whatsoever.”

Selasi – representing the child in all of us – couldn’t hide his giggles at Mary’s comment, prompting an amused look from presenter Sue Perkins.

Twitter lapped up the scene as it marked the first real cheeky moment of the episode.

Some fans thought that Selasi was trying his hardest not to let out a real guffaw…

And others were just really, really passionate about him. As they always are…
