AN awards ceremony is to highlight the achievements of Scotland's ethnic minorities.

The Scottish Minority Ethnic Achievement Awards will be held at the Hilton Glasgow Hotel on June 25 and will be televised by Sony Entertainment Television Asia.

The annual awards offer a platform to showcase, highlight and reward organisations and individuals who have made an outstanding contribution in their respective fields.

From dynamic young entrepreneurs to well-established veterans, minority ethnic businesses continue to make an impact on Scotland's economic success.

Last year's awards, hosted by STV presenter Bernard Ponsonby, attracted more than 500 high-profile guests from business and politics to sports and showbiz.

Bernard said: "The awards offer a wonderful opportunity to raise the profile of Scotland's minority ethnic community and celebrate the immense talent, innovation and ingenuity that it enjoys."

Anela Anwar, chief executive of event organisers Team 11, said: "The awards will champion minority ethnic talent from across Scotland and bring together individuals, communities and businesses from a wide array of fields."

Nominations for the awards are now open at www.minorityethnicawards.co.uk

The nominations close on Friday, June 12.
