The Coliseum in Eglinton Street is facing demolition after the fire early yesterday morning.
Firefighters were unable to prevent the building's roof collapsing and the interior of the building was wrecked.
The blaze, reported in yesterday's Evening Times, caused traffic chaos in the Gorbals area.
Eglinton Street was still closed this morning and cars and buses were being diverted.
Despite the efforts of firefighters who battled the blaze for more than five hours, a building inspectors' report could condemn the building to demolition.
The building, which was opened in 1905, was originally a theatre.
It was later adapted as a cinema before it became a County Bingo hall in the 1980s, but has lain derelict for the past decade.
Strathclyde Fire and rescue said 10 fire crews had attended from Calton and Polmadie stations.
