Welcome to the Weird Web World, our daily peek into the internet’s strangest corners.
I’ve trawled the world for odd stories, bizarre facts and off-the-wall anecdotes. Here’s what I’ve found for today...
Meaty fashion
Fashionable hats be damned. This site offers a selection of hats madefrom ... meat!
It claims to cover "the past, present and future of hats made from meat", although the casual visitor would be forgiven for not knowing this particular branch of millinery had any of those things.
There are tips for collectors (keep them in the freezer!) pictures of people wearing sausages on their heads and even a shop. Worth having a butchers ... www.hatsofmeat.com
Tongue tied
Mis-translations are always good for a giggle, usually – as here - at the expense of well meaning efforts of distant countries to cater to British or American tourists.
One sign above a building advertises "The Cambodian Association Helping the Miserable Corpses".
Another shows a public safety sign claiming that on one particular beach: ‘Drowning Is Popular’. Let’s face it, there are few British signs in Cantonese, so some marks for effort ... www.engrish.com
Extreme steam
It’s the "danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well pressed shirt".
Extreme ironing is catching on, apparently, with this website claiming it is even set to make it into a Nintendo Wii game.
And it’s not all make believe: Extreme ironers have pressed shirts underwater, breaking a record as 86 of them ironed at the same time. There was even calendar released with pictures of the hottest pressers ... www.extremeironing.com
