Improbable

Somewhere in the world, there are scientists researching the side-effects of Marmite or investigating whether Parmesan can remain pongy for 500 years.

Worryingly, these people are probably paid to do this. Improbable is a dossier of their work, tied in with the famous Ignobel awards that commend silly research.

The clues in the Ig bit of that title: this site will outrage those who think public money goes into funding ludicrous research, but tickle the rest of us.

Those moments spent giggling at Sarah Palin are amongst this writer’s happiest. Imagine my joy when I found William Shatner performing the Vice Presidential candidate’s meaninglessly banal Twitter messages, backed by a smooth jazz band.

Shatner’s turned this into a bit of a hobby recently, reading various Tweets as if they were poems, but this was the first.

Although, I can’t help but point out that if you did the same for Obama’s “Yes We Can!” Tweets, it would have to sound like a Van Halen song.
