With Friday and Sunday tipped by forecasters to be wet, wet, wet, festivalgoers will have to pull on their wellies and raincoats for a weekend of partying at Retrofest, Hydro Connect and the Millport Country and Western Festival.
The biggest crowd is expected at the Hydro Connect festival at Inveraray Castle in Argyll.
More than 20,000 music fans are expected to head to the Duke of Argyll's home to see acts including Scots rockers Franz Ferdinand, Paolo Nutini and Glasvegas perform alongside the Manic Street Preachers and the Gossip.
The event aims to be environmentally friendly by providing rickshaws and solar powered showers and will serve up locally produced food and drink, including Loch Fyne oysters, real ale and a range of malts at the Loch Fyne Whisky Tent.
Festival organiser Geoff Ellis said: "The line-up, combined with the local produce and some exciting alternative entertainment, makes it the perfect way to end the summer."
Another 10,000 festival fans will party to 1970s, 80s and 90s music at Retrofest at Strathclyde Country Park near Motherwell.
They will gather to relive their younger days with cult acts including Boy George, Boney M and The Bangles.
The event also boasts a silent disco, where revellers can put on headphones and select their own music to bop along to.
And at least 1500 people will brave the wet ground to camp for the full festival experience.
Organiser Bradley Snelling said: "This year's festival is set to be even bigger and better, building on last year's success.
"It's a chance to experience the music of your youth again, or for some, the chance to see some fantastic acts live for the first time.
"Most of all, this is a chance to have fun with your friends, experience some great live music and enjoy the unique Retrofest experience."
But if you're looking for a more family-friendly weekend, the Millport Country and Western Festival promises music and dancing for all.
Up to 10,000 people are expected to travel to the island of Cumbrae for some western-style revelry.
And best of all, it's completely free.
Organiser Bill Paton said: "We've got attractions for the whole family and you don't have to be mad on country."
But a mixed weather forecast means all revellers should keep a brolly handy.
A Met Office spokesman said: "It's not looking too bad but it's not going to be dry and sunny by any means.
"On Friday there will be rain across the north of Scotland which might reach Inveraray but Glasgow and Ayrshire should be mainly dry.
"Saturday will see mainly dry conditions in Glasgow and Ayrshire but a system could bring some rain to Inveraray.
"On Sunday it looks like there might be a possibility of rain everywhere.
"Though if the sun does come out it will be warm with temperatures up to 21 degrees."
