It was the perfect way to prepare for the women's 10k – pasta, pals and pink, pink, pink.

Glasgow had a rosy glow as around 100 women, who are taking part in this Sunday's event, enjoyed a gentle jog around the city centre.

The Pasta Party, hosted by Glasgow Running Network and race organisers Glasgow Life, is one of the most popular events of the 10k training calendar, giving runners the chance to meet up, pick up some tips, and enjoy some great food ahead of the big day.

Runners set off from DiMaggio's restaurant in Royal Exchange Square to the skirl of the bagpipes.

The two-and-a-half mile route then crossed the Clyde and back again on to Glassford Street before making its way through the city centre to Di Maggio's on West Nile Street.

The runners were rewarded for their hard work with a bowl of pasta and an evening of entertainment hosted by Clyde 1 DJs Knoxy and Shebahn Littlejohn.

Knoxy is keeping a diary for the Evening Times, media partner for the women's 10k, and you can read her final installment in tomorrow's paper.

A raffle and pass the parcel game rounded off the evening's fun.

You can still enter the Ignis Asset Management Women's 10k by going to www.runglasgow.org. The closing date is tomorrow.

And you can still help out behind the scenes as a volunteer.

Organisers are looking for helpers to marshal the route and to cheer on the runners.

Route stewards, who must be 18 or over, will receive volunteers' clothing, accreditation and refreshments on the day.

To volunteer email runglasgow@glasgowlife.org.uk or call the volunteer line on 0141 287 6419.
