Now I have been told that I have to pay £12 per month for this service.
I find it disgraceful that, at a time when fuel prices are rising by 9%, the council should put such a high charge onto vulnerable people who might feel that they have no alternative but to pay.
I will be cancelling it ... despite the risk.

RECENTLY I exchanged coinage in a Coinstar machine in a super-market and was aghast at being charged £18 (8.9%) for the privilege.
These machines should be subjected to the same constraints as fee-charging ATM machines.
Many of these stores are sited in poorer areas, and it is safe to assume that it is the less well off who would have cause to use them.
In these times of austerity it is scandalous to be charged that amount to exchange your own cash.

SCOTTISH Labour's Deputy Leader Anas Sarwar states that, if we become independent we could lose all the best shows from BBC.
If this is all he can come up with to keep us as part of the union then he really is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I hope that if Alex Salmond can change the rules to give 16 and 17 year olds the vote, that he can also make it compulsory to vote in the referendum.
It is far too important an issue for less than a 100% turnout to count.
If only the usual 40% vote, then – even if they all voted 'yes' – it would not constitute a real majority.

I WAS pleased to read that plans look set to go ahead to extend the Glasgow Fort (Monday).
Any extension can only prove to be beneficial and offer more jobs.
