LETTERS – Prices put gas at a peep

As US gas prices are in freefall because of shale, British Gas prices are increasing, by up to 9%.

We could have had the same low gas prices as the US from shale gas by now. We could have had nuclear electricity decades ago – costing probably a tenth of current prices.

Our politicians are wholly responsible for high energy costs, for the current recession, and for many pensioner deaths each year.

Anyone in any of the big parties who denies it should not be trusted to be telling the truth on any other future subject whatever it is.

LOOKS like the power companies are desperate to become the new banks.

Scottish Gas makes £8m a day but then 'explains' why it is having to raise prices.

You couldn't make this stuff up.

LIKE many readers, I am sure, I often find that the level of cleanliness in Glasgow's streets leave a lot to be desired.

And I believe much of the blame lies with the workers of the cleansing department refusing to clean up after they empty bins.

Tonnage should be reintroduced, as should cleansing inspectors who distance themselves from the crews and ensure that the work is done and done properly.

I COULDN'T help smile at your pictures of the Christmas lights going up in George Square on October 11.

I know they need to be up in good time for the big November switch on, but we're not even close to Hallow'en yet.

I was at wedding at the weekend and the foyer of the hotel had a table made up with Christmas trees and festive glitter.

At this rate, it won't be long before the shops and powers that be whip out the deccies in time for the Glasgow Fair!
