I HAVE just read your article about the further investment of £36million of taxpayers money into our roads network.

After three years of heavy expenditure in the roads infrastructure I do not see the improvement or progress you would expect with such an investment.

It seems there is a cavalier scatter gun approach applied in day to day operations.

On the subject of potholes, one or two repairs may be done on a street which in most occasions is littered with similar faults which are then left unattended for months, sometimes years.

If this firefighting policy is not addressed throwing good money after bad will become an annual occurrence.

FOR weeks now Glasgow people have been signing petitions, holding protests and writing to city council leader Gordon Matheson regarding the fiasco with George Square.

Mr Matheson has at no point held a meeting to speak to the people or listen to reasoning of what is required.

He has not mentioned anything about the 'facelift' since he dumped the design for the square.

John McAslan has been in four different papers each week since he was advised that the council would NOT be going ahead with his suggested design.

He said that he had held a meeting in the square where he spoke to members of the public.

How did he manage this and who were the public? Gordon Matheson, what is your intention to solve the problem?

with regards to the impending closures of learning disabilities day centres, while I am aware that councils must make savings, the closure of centres, such as Hinshaw Street and Summerston, is a clear attack on the most vulnerable people in society.

The centres provide facilities for profoundly disabled people to meet and form friendships while allowing carers much-needed respite.

I would urge the councillors involved in this latest series of cuts to reverse their decision.
