LETTERS – Rape victim was so brave to speak out

I would like to congratulate the woman who spoke out about her rape nightmare, in Tuesday's Evening Times, for her bravery.

She has been through Hell, so it must have been so hard for her to talk about the whole experience – from the rape to the court case – to a newspaper.

I really hope her story helps other women who have been forced to go through something similar.

I also hope she has been able to move on and my heart goes out to her.

It has been reported in the media that thousands of elderly patients may be dying needlessly because they are denied treatment by the NHS on the grounds of their age. How pathetic is this?

Doctors should look at overall health rather than just how old patients are when considering their needs.

There should be no 'cut-off' when it comes to an upper age limit for health care. Too old for treatment is not on.

I am annoyed at the time doctors take to see most patients who are suffering pain. I know some doctors are busy, but not all of them.

Doctors working for the NHS should have only one job, not two or three. That would reduce waiting times and lists.

The SNP wants 16 and 17-year-olds to vote in the referendum because they say they deserve the same rights as everyone else.

Does that mean it also thinks they should be entitled to benefits?

If so, the SNP should say where the extra money will come from.

I FELT sorry for Glasgow University student James Morton in the Great British Bake Off on BBC2 on Tuesday.

His creations were superb and I thought he should have been named the winner in the final.

I wish I could bake half as well as him.
