LETTERS – Readers react to eviction dog owner who failed to clean up mess

OUR exclusive story about the first tenant in Scotland to be evicted for refusing to clean up his dog's mess provoked a flurry of comments on our website www.eveningtimes.co.uk.

Here is a flavour of what just a few of our readers were saying.

AT LAST, some sense regarding this disgusting and unhygienic practice.

The housing association concerned should be applauded for its actions.

My only worry is that this dirty individual, and his blameless pet, will now be re-housed somewhere else and continue with his disgusting behaviour.

Pat Clarke Knightswood

As a responsible dog owner, this action is welcomed.

It is not the dog's fault, but their owner's.

John Greig Glasgow

I hope the authorities took the animal off him for re-housing. He's clearly not fit to own a dog.

Tony Shields Glasgow

Hard to have any sympathy for this idiot. Allowing a dog to mess up in this manner is inviting trouble.

Johnny Mack Via e-mail

Too many irresponsible dog owners make life a misery for others.

Had the culprit been an elderly or an infirm, person, that would have been a different matter, but this guy was only 29 – and, I'm sure, well able to clean up after his dog.

Ron Campbell Via e-mail

Well done! I'm sick, fed up with people not picking up after their dogs.

It's about time all councils and housing associations did this.
