I was one of the many hundreds of Partick Thistle fans who travelled by train to the Ramsden's Cup Final on Sunday in Livingston.

I was surprised that the service on ScotRail was so poor.

On the return journey we had to wait almost an hour at Livingston North for a train.

When the train did arrive it was only three carriages long, which meant that many passengers, including some with young children, were unable to board and were left stranded on the platform.

ScotRail's own "Insight" magazine highlighted the game as a major event and yet it made no effort to amend services to cope with it.

Yet another example of private profit coming before public service. I am not impressed.

I WAS pleased to read that the former Old Printworks pub is finally going to be put back into use (Wednesday).

The building has been lying empty for too long and it will be nice to see a new budget hotel in the city centre.

I ALWAYS love the pictures on the Memories page in my Evening Times.

Monday's picture, from 1901, was one of the best I've seen in a long while.

I took your advice and checked out the YouTube clip from 1901 of Jamaica Street and thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's a pity that area of town doesn't have as much character now as it did back then.

I WAS relieved to see that the Grand National-winning jockey Ryan Mania has recovered after his fall the day after his stunning victory.

He seems to be a very deserving winner and his home town of Galashiels should be very proud of him.
