LETTERS - Square cash question

I HAVE been reading all the comments about George Square and I'm surprised none refer to the destination of the Tax Incremental Funds (TIF) earmarked for the work.

Was the funding ring-fenced for the square, or can it be used for other public realm work?

I think the citizens of Glasgow need clarity on the TIF. I understand the £15million cannot be used for many of the alternate uses suggested over the last few weeks.

I'M pleased to read that the Bell's Bridge across the River Clyde will be upgraded (Wednesday).

It's badly needed, especially with the amount of tourists that often use the crossing.

I refer to the article in The Evening Times on Tuesday regarding rubbish left lying about the streets in Maryhill.

I would say to Glasgow City Council that is should just get the place cleaned. Regardless of whose fault it is, it is not a good look.

I FIND it a bit rich for Renfrewshire Council to boast about the extension plans for Braehead (Tuesday) .

When Glasgow City Council first put up the plans and infrastructure for Braehead, the council objected time after time, claiming it would kill off Renfrew and Paisley.

However, it now seems after a convenient boundary change, with Renfrewshire Council taking control of the area, that Braehead can become as big as it wants. Short memories.

I was in Hairmyres Hospital at the turn of the year. It was bursting at the seams with patients, but the care I received was second to none.

There are really special nurses there, so I'd like to say, thank you.
