LETTERS: Tell Kemp to clear off

Once again we have people like Ross Kemp determined to tarnish Glasgow's image by making documentaries showing the dark side (September 10).

I am sick and tired of people like him coming to our city seeking out the most vulnerable in our society to assist them in their quest to stereotype the good people of Glasgow.

For Kemp to compare Glasgow to some of the toughest cities in the world is a downright insult, especially when Glasgow is to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

I don't recollect any negative publicity being heaped upon his beloved London before the Olympic/Paralympic games began there.

I FIND it chilling that nowhere in the fallout from Hillsborough inquiry has anybody questioned the phrase 'previously unseen documents'.

While the damning documents might not have been seen by the grieving families, they were certainly seen by senior police officers, lawyers and politicians, but not one of them chose to speak out.

All those involved in this criminal cover up should be brought to book.

WHY does my heart sink when I read (September 13) that George Square is to be given a 'new look'?

Perhaps it is the phrases; 'public consultation' and 'international design competition' that so terrify me. They are usually a sure sign that the city council either have no idea what they are doing, or have already come to a decision without having ever asked the public.

Here's my plan to improve the square; more trees, more grass and a lot less council mucking about.

I think it would be great for Glasgow for the marathon to come back.

I took part from 1984 -1987 and the support from the public was great.
