This was the scene back in 1951 at Balmano Brae, Rottenrow in Glasgow, as residents, young and old, gathered outside their tenement home after part of the building collapsed.
Police officers and the fire brigade were in attendance too to ensure everyone was safe and well.
The tenements were among the oldest inhabited buildings in the city, with many of the structures dating back to the early 1800s, when building regulations weren’t so strict.
The extent of the collapse is clear to see, with families’ living rooms – complete with torn strips of wallpaper and fireside rugs exposed to the elements for all to see.
You’ve got to spare a thought for the youngsters left staring up at what remained of their homes.
The tenements at Balmano Brae are long gone, with various Strathclyde University building now occupying the site.
