Glasgow’s West End is constantly changing but this howf is one of many which will always be a favourite spot for a bite to eat and a couple of drinks after a visit to the shops.
Back in 1970, it was no different, with one of Byres Road’s most famous watering holes The Curlers proving to be a busy stop-off point for West Enders of all ages.
Today’s picture was taken shortly before the popular pub’s sale and refurbishment.
The centrally located Curlers began life as a coaching inn back in the 18th century.
Back then, the area was a small clachan called the Byres of Partick and the entry point to the city for cattle being driven down from the west Highlands.
Even with the growing number of new bars and restaurants which open up in Byres Road, Curlers is still a favourite for many and is a top spot for thirsty students.
