OPINION - Award is music to drum store's ear

IT is a difficult time for those who run businesses just now so award ceremonies are a chance to show appreciation for firms giving good service and providing jobs.

The Glasgow Business Awards recognised a range of companies large and small and across a variety of sectors.

Glasgow's Favourite Business Award, chosen by Evening Times readers, has been a sought after accolade won by some well-known names over the years.

This year it has been won by Rhythm Base, an example of a successful business being set up after spotting a gap in the market.

Paul Burke and Gordon Ferguson, having noted the lack of a percussion specialist store in Glasgow decided to open one themselves and their customer service has led to them picking up the prestigious award.

Among the other winners was Glasgow Airport which has come through a difficult period but has managed to deliver for passengers earning the Customer Service Award.

All the winners were deserving for their endeavours in what is a trying time for business as well as employees.

The winners and finalists have done a remarkable job through tough times and we congratulate them and wish them and all other Glasgow business a prosperous future.
