OPINION: City walks it when it comes to charity...

THE number of charity events, raising cash for good causes, are almost too numerous to count, but the good people of Glasgow continue to show their support.

The Prince and Princes of Wales Hospice is one such charity that is close to the hearts of many in the city and the turnout for the midnight walk was further evidence of that.

The event raised much needed cash for the hospice as it prepares to move to new premises and continue to provide care for people with cancer.

With government and council budgets ever tightening, organisations like the hospice are even more reliant on donations from the public and though family budgets are just as tight people have shown their support.

Without this backing services like the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice would not be able to do the crucial work they do, providing loving care when it is most needed and supporting families through the most difficult of times.

Well done to everyone who took part or contributed to the fund-raising effort.

Once again the people of Glasgow showed how much they care and how they are, quite literally willing to go that extra mile for a cause they care about.
