OPINION: Glasgow moves streets ahead

THE first year of the Evening Times Streets Ahead campaign has been a resounding success in communities across Glasgow.

As out report today show there was a diverse range of projects that made improvements of varying kinds all over the city.

A huge amount was achieved in the last year as people took responsibility for their own areas and got organised to make things happen.

The work was made possible to the campaign partners city charitable Trust, Glasgow Housing Association, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and Glasgow City Council who provided financial and logistical support and expertise.

While there has been success and progress made in many communities, there is more that can be done all over the city, and the Evening Times is delighted to commit to the campaign continuing into a second year, to allow even more community groups and individuals take their ideas forward.

As year one comes to a close we would like to thank all our partners but mostly everyone who got involved and decided to turn their ideas into a reality.

Streets Ahead is about improving Glasgow street by street and the only people who can do that are the people of Glasgow.

We look forward to even more success stories next year.
