OPINION: Glasgow's star turn steals the show

WE set out to find Glasgow's new Star Turn in our great new talent contest and stars are exactly what we got.

The Glasgow's Star Turn title was taken by Elissa Crorken who wowed the judges and thrilled the crowd at the grand final last night.

Led by former Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus the judges had a tough choice as all eleven finalists gave their all and showed the wealth of talent in Glasgow.

The city has produced a long line of stars from Lulu to head judge Michelle and many more in between, and on last night's performances there will be no shortage in the future.

The contest attracted a huge response with thousands of votes cast to choose the finalists and the Old Fruitmarket was packed for the next generation to show what they can do.

Singers, guitarists, pop groups and dance troupes battled it out and every one was worthy of their place in our final.

Glasgow's Star Turn has brought out the best on the city's talent, in a range of acts and given them a platform to shine.

By making the final all the acts showed they were winners. But, of course, only one could carry off the top prize.

On the night Elissa proved herself worthy of the title – just remember where you heard the name first.
