OPINION - Have they got it right on the buses?

WHEN the list of changes to bus services in Glasgow was proposed it came with a pledge to listen to passengers and consider amendments.

The decision to scrap some of the changes shows the outcome of the proposed changes was not necessarily a foregone conclusion.

The ammendments only came about because enough people made their views known, and not least through the letters page and website of the Evening Times.

Readers made their concerns heard which were conveyed to First Bus for the bosses to chew over.

Now the firm has altered its plans but will go ahead with most of the intended changes.

Glasgow is dependent on a bus network that gets people where they need and want to be when they have they have to be there.

So early morning and late-night services are needed as not everyone works nine to five and services in communities off the main roads are needed for the elderly and those less able to walk a distance to the bus stop.

Are the changes enough? Let us know and let First Bus know because the people who should be shaping the services are the people who use them.

We have to hope First have got it right and the new new timetable and route map will provide the city with the bus service it needs.
