CHRISTMAS is a time to think about others and for those who have recently lost someone it can be the hardest time, but also when they have many happy memories.

This year, 11-year-old Maria Lalley will be remembering her dad, John, and in doing so hopes to encourage others to help raise funds for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.

The hospice Light Up A Life campaign aims to raise £25,000 towards the £2.8million the hospice needs to raise each year to deliver its first-class care

The hospice is also engaged in the Brick by Brick Campaign to help build the new hospice in Bellahouston to allow the hospice to deliver its care within the most up to date facilities.

That total is £15m, which will take time to be reached, but with the support and commitment of people like Maria inspiring others it can be achieved.

The Evening Times is backing the appeal and gives its support to the Light Up a Life appeal and hopes people will give it the support it deserves.

The hospice has already helped Maria and her family and she is doing her bit to ensure it is there to give the same care for others in their time of need.

We hope she is successful in encouraging others to do the same and support Light up a Life.
