OPINION: Stop the firebugs before it is too late

SOME behaviour is so mindless that the only motive you can come up with is to cause damage and harm to others.

This is the only explanation that can be offered for the setting alight of bins in common closes and multi storey flats across the city.

As our reports show this is not isolated and is happening at various locations and it must stop before someone is killed.

A pensioner has already been luck to escape alive after he was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation in one incident, others may not be so lucky.

When the fire brigade tells you it will lead to a tragedy then people have to listen before it is too late.

Police are investigating incidents and for the sake of everyone who lives in these properties if anyone has any information on who is responsible for these stupid and dangerous acts then they should have no hesitation in passing on information.

Fire kills and while those who are setting the bins alight might not be wilfully seeking to kill that is exactly what can happen anytime someone deliberately lights a fire in or close to residential property.

Action now within these communities by the responsible majority can stop this behaviour before it escalates and it is a murder inquiry the police are conducting.
