OPINION: Teenagers show they are streets ahead

STREETS Ahead is a campaign for everyone to get involved in no matter your age or where you live, as the latest featured project shows.

Thanks to the efforts of a team of teenagers form across the city part of Easthall Park has been given a face-lift, with a new pathway and some decorative features alongside.

Everyone is a winner in this case, with the community getting a lift and the young men who took up the challenge learning new skills and a sense of achievement at their finished work.

The award winning Streets Ahead campaign brings people together with businesses Balfour Beatty and Lomond Construction helping out with materials and equipment for the Easthall Project.

In many others across the city our campaign partners, City Charitable Trust, Glasgow Housing Association, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and Clean Glasgow, have helped with financial support and expertise of their staff to bring projects to completion.

But the project is about Glasgow, the people and its places and getting together to see what can be done to make them better.

Well done to the teenagers in Easthall and everyone who is making Streets Ahead the success it is and taking up the challenge to change Glasgow street by street.
