John Swinney has repeatedly said he is willing to listen to alternatives to save the Glasgow Airport Rail Link.

If that is the case, why is he so unwilling to convene a meeting of all those who want to save it to come up with a rescue plan.

If the Budget is passed tomorrow, Glasgow and Scotland will have missed a golden opportunity to create jobs and investment.

It is not too late for all our MSPs to take a stand, instead of loyally toeing the party line.

Mr Swinney should be urged, even at this late stage, to fully investigate publicly, alternative funding with stakeholders.

Then he can say he truly was willing to listen to other people’s ideas.

Welcome back to the GPO

The Post Office building in George Square has been hidden from view for far too long.

The restoration of what has become a giant advertising space, will be a welcome sight giving the city back a major landmark.

Whoever moves into this refurbished building will have an iconic address in a stunning piece of architecture.

After years of dereliction the new owners deserve credit for bringing the GPO back in service.
