I have asked this question before and been told the heating on buses is outwith the control of the driver (usually when it's minus something degrees in winter when no heating is on!).
The response I got was that someone, somewhere who works for First Bus controls the heating remotely. Is this an urban myth?
I cannot imagine a wee man sitting saying: "Jimmy turn the heating on the 5pm number 64 off and turn up the heating on the number 12 at 7pm" from the Magic Bus Heating System Control Room.

WHEN I was out this morning I was looking at all the trees and, although they are nice, I could not help thinking it would be much better if local councils who plant the trees could plant fruit trees instead of beech, oak or rowan.
We could have apple, cherry, pear, plum – any that are suited to the local climate.
We would then have a small harvest of fruit and it might be a good way of teaching the children to eat it!

JIM McGale (Letters, August 16) may have been a driver for more than 50 years, but the reason for the accidents in Cumbernauld has not yet been established.
Yes, there are drivers out there who do cause accidents by their own recklessness but this is not always the case.

SUBWAY bosses have got a cheek to propose raising ticket prices (Wednesday).
I wouldn't mind if it was offering an improved service, but I think it's just a rise for the sake of it. They are just following suit with other transport providers.
I think the rise might be one too many and impact on customer numbers.
