POINTS OF VIEW: He has head in clouds

I can't believe Councillor Alistair Watson ever believed a £10million cable car plan would ever get off the ground (Wednesday).

It was a ridiculous idea from the start.

There are more important areas to spend money on in the city – and a cable car certainly isn't one of them.

A clean sweep

GLASGOW City Council think using mini-sweeping vehicles to clean pedestrian areas is environmentally friendly.

A vehicle, even though one using green fuel, still needs maintenance.

A greener alternative would be a gang of men with brushes.

My mail moan

NOT content with sticking up the price of stamps above the means of many people, figures reveal that last year the Royal Mail cut nearly 6500 post box collections.

Now they tell us collection times in many districts are to be brought forward, meaning customers will have to make sure their letters go in the box a lot earlier than usual.

At one time the Royal Mail's slogan used to be 'The customer is always right.'

Not anymore.

Data protection

CONCERNED by your story about the theft of a council computer full of people's personal details, I called the council to make sure my pension details were safe. This is the answer I got.

I was told that the data related only to over 80s who got the extra winter fuel allowance, and a letter would be sent out if it concerned me.

How can people wait for a letter which concerns 40,000 people?
