I have been seeking the introduction of additional languages to the early years curriculum for the past 10 years, however, I feel that nursery is the ideal environment in which to begin teaching foreign languages.
I am hoping to introduce just such a pilot scheme in Drumchapel in the near future.
An early introduction to foreign languages can make the learning process less daunting and challenging in the years to come.

Who will pay?
EVERY time Alex Salmond is asked an awkward question about independence he just chuckles and blames everything on the "scaremongering London Government".
He knows that if he loses the referendum he can retire with a huge First Minister's pension.
It's about time he told us how an independent Scotland could afford to pay for pensions, benefits, the NHS, schools, and so called "free" prescriptions and university places.

Shame for flats
IT SEEMS a shame that a fine, red sandstone tenement in Bridgeton has to be demolished because of subsidence (May 22).
Surely, with some engineering expertise they could be shored it up and made stable?
You just know that whatever replaces them won't last nearly as long as the original Victorian building.

Splashing out
IT is lovely to see that the streets in the city centre are regularly cleaned by street sweepers. However, it would be great to see roadside drains cleaned and unblocked of leaves and dirt as well.
This would go a long way in reducing the number of Glasgow citizens who get soaked by spray from puddles when inconsiderate drivers race by.
