POINTS OF VIEW: Steamed Up On Fares

MY wife and I have just came back from two weeks in Scarborough where we went on a couple of trips on the Regal Lady pleasure cruiser.

At only £4 for a trip it was well worth the money.

So how come the Waverley paddle steamer company is always pleading poverty?

Their prices are much higher, so I would have thought they should be able to run the operation at a profit.

We went on a trip a few years ago and got a senior citizens' discount of £1.

We were then charged £1 fuel duty!

So much for the discount.

Signs are fine

I JUST don't see the point in putting the Glasgow road signs in Gaelic.

What on earth would be the advantage in doing such a thing when we still need so much work done to fix the roads?

Let's not forget our roads are still dangerous because they still have not been completely repaired.

OK, so there are a handful of people who speak Gaelic here in Glasgow. So what?

Gaelic is for the Highlands and Islands, Gaelic is not part of the Glesga banter.

Fix the roads properly and leave the signs alone.

They're not doing any harm as they are – as the saying goes, if it's not broke, don't fix it.

Memory treat

YOUR picture in Thursday's Memories' page was a great shot looking over St Enoch Square. It showed just how big a site the old station took up.

Prize guy

I won a family pass to Zippos Circus and had a great day out. I would like to thank the Evening Times for the excellent prizes that I have won over the last 20 year.
