Pupils taste success at Glasgow Music Festival

FOLLOWING a weekend packed full of performances, the countdown has begun towards the grand finale of the 101st Glasgow Music Festival.

Douglas Academy First Orchestra were the winners of the A M Ross Memorial trophy, while the Glasgow Youth Choir Junior Section took home The Herald Challenge Trophy.

Christian Schneeberger was the individual to lift the Thomas A Kerr Trophy, which is given to Scottish vocal soloists.

Before its close this Saturday with The Last Night Concert, more than 7000 young performers will have taken part in the event over the last two weeks.

They will have performed around 170 hours of music, speech, drama and dances across six venues, including Renfield St Stephen's Church in Bath Street, City Halls and Barony Church.
